چکیده

Abstract In this study, Representative Volume Element based micromechanical modeling technique has been implemented to assess the mechanical properties of glass filled epoxy composites. Rod shaped fillers having an aspect ratio 80 were used for preparing composite. The three-dimensional unit cell model representative volume element was prepared with finite analysis tool ANSYS 19 using periodic square and hexagonal array assumption that there is a perfect bonding between filler matrix. Results revealed tensile modulus increases Poisson’s decreases increase in fraction filler. To study effect fraction, pulse echo techniques experimentally measure 5% 15% A good agreement found RVE predicted values experimental results.

Evaluation of Thermal Properties of E-Glass/ Epoxy Composites Filled By Different Filler Materials

This paper compares the values of the thermal and fire resistance properties of composites made using the hand layup technique. E-Glass fiber reinforced epoxy composites was fabricated by filling varying concentration of aluminum oxide (Al2O3), magnesium hydroxide(Mg(OH)2), silicon carbide (SiC), and hematite powder. The main aim of this work was to determine the thermal conductivity, thermal e...

Computational Simulation of Ablation Phenomena in Glass-filled Phenolic Composites

A one–dimensional, transient and thermal degradation model for predicting responses of composite materials when are exposed to the fire is presented. The presented model simulates ablation of composites with different layers of materials and considers material properties as functions of temperature. The reactions are modeled by using Arrhenius-type parameters and density-temperature diagram...

Fatigue and ultrasonic testing of epoxy-glass composites

Purpose: The purpose of this paper was to find relationship between the degree of strength degradation caused by fatigue and the changes of ultrasonic wave characteristics such as wave velocity and damping coefficient. Design/methodology/approach: Epoxy-glass composites were subjected to oscillatory bending loadings with constant deflection. During fatigue procedure the force needed to achieve ...
